When a client set his sights on a 1996 J Boats J/160 lying in Maryland, he turned to Miami Yachting to represent him on the buy side — and to be his eyes and hands on a boat more than a thousand miles from home.
The J/160 is one of the most admired designs Rod Johnstone ever drew for J Boats — a true dual-purpose performer that gives up almost nothing between a fast passage and a comfortable long-distance cruise. With its powerful yet easily driven hull, generous sail plan, and a layout built for real offshore work, the J/160 earned a loyal following among sailors who refuse to choose between speed and seaworthiness. This example, *Condor* of Annapolis, was a well-kept expression of that pedigree.
With the yacht in Maryland and the client unable to travel, Capt. Randy A.Gomez went in his place. He attended the survey in person, oversaw every step of the inspection, and protected the buyer's interests at each stage of the negotiation. That hands-on representation paid off directly: we negotiated the yacht for a price below the $290,000 asking, securing an excellent buy for our client.
The work didn't end at closing. Miami Yachting coordinated the full logistics of bringing the yacht home, supporting the buyer through an approximately 340-nautical-mile delivery to Newport, Rhode Island. From the first survey to the last mile of the passage, it's the kind of end-to-end support that defines how we work for the people we represent.
